Rafik Mankarios has been a Montreal drummer for the last 30 years. Very
early in his musical career, he was exposed to numerous musical events
that have become the corner stone of his solid musical experience. He
has played in some of the most prestigious festivals, shows, recordings
and tours. The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Vienne Jazz
Festival in France, and the Montreal Jazz Festival are only a few examples.
For a few years now, Rafik Mankarios has been successfully directing the
Rafik Mankarios Big Band. In the last few years, his big band has
collected some of musics most respected honors:
Gold award at the Quebec Jazzfest (2007);
Gold award at the Canadian Musicfest (2008);
«Découverte 2009» at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal for
his Tribute to Buddy Rich show
As if it weren't enough Rafik Mankarios is also directing the successful
Dance Knights and Jazz Knights orchestras. These dazzling orchestras
have made numerous weddings, corporate events, anniversaries, and
galas a thundering success.
